CREATIVE CONCEPTS

Creative Concepts by Marcia was established in July 2001 by Marcia Diane Foster. The first creative concept was a hand dance competition called “The Most Creative Hand Dance Couples of 2002 Competition.” It was held at the Hollywood Ballroom in Silver Spring, Maryland, on January 12, 2002. The first prize couple won $2,000.
The second creative concept was an event held at the Eclipse nightclub in Washington, D.C. on April 6, 2002.
The purpose of the event was to showcase all of the winners in the Competition and to give them their awards.
The third creative concept was the second competition, which included hand dancing, and other style dances.
It was called “The Most Creative Hand Dance Competition”. It was held at the Ramada Inn in New Carrollton, Maryland, on January 18 and 19, 2003. The first prize couple won $700.
The fourth creative concept started in March 2003. I started writing an article called “Eye on the Hand Dancer” for the Business Guide Magazine and the Hand Dancing Source Website, Russell Price, producer of both. As writer of “Eye on the Hand Dancer”, I interviewed a club owner and a hand dance and Chicago Stepping instructors. I incorporated each of their stories into an interesting and informative article. I wrote articles about a fabulous Christmas Party, a Unique Bus Excursion, and CCbM’s 2nd competition and new dance class.
The fifth creative concept was the establishment of my hand dance and bop class. It started November/December 2003. In my first class, I had 20 individuals in attendance. I have taken hand dance classes from some of the “heavies” in hand dance; however, my class is structure entirely different and is considered very unique. I teach from a student’s point of view not a competitors point of view. We are in our August/September session for 2004. In 2005, we will have sessions in May/June and August/September.
The sixth creative concept was held on July 11, 2004, at the Tradewinds in Camp Springs, Maryland. It was a birthday party for the Sole Proprietor (me) of CCbM. It was free, the attire was white, demonstrations were showcased, refreshments were served, and everyone had fun. The downstairs part of the club was reserved for hand dancing and the upstairs was reserved for Chicago Stepping.
The seventh and eight creative concepts are in the making and will be announced later.
As Sole Proprietor of CCbM, I sponsored, organized, promoted, produced, directed, wrote, and created all creative competitions and all others events. Of course, I had assistance and support from many, many adorable people. To name a few, Rose Butler, Rodney Weaver, Mildred Butler, Clarence Grayson, and, of course,
Russell Price.
